Broccoli Quiche

  • 1 unbaked pie crust (optional – I don’t ever use one)
  • 1 lb. pork sausage, cooked (for ex., Jimmy Dean regular)
  • 12-oz. pkg. broccoli florets, steamed*
  • Chopped onions to taste (apprx. 1 small onion or ½ large)
  • ½ lb. or less fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese (approximate)
  • 1 cup grated Swiss cheese (approximate)

Layer above ingredients in a large pie plate.

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/1/2 cups whipping cream (or ½ and ½)
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. oregano
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • ½ – 1 tsp. curry
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
  • Tabasco to taste
  • Red pepper to taste
  • Thyme to taste
  • Paprika to taste

Mix above ingredients in bowl, and pour into pie plate. 

Bake at 350 for about 1 ½ hours. Let stand 10 minutes.  Can be made a day ahead and refrigerated.

*You can get broccoli florets in a microwavable bag, for example, Eat Smart Broccoli Florets, microwave in bag (from Wal-Mart).
