- 9-inch baked Pastry Shell
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 large egg yolks
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream ***
- 1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar ***
- chocolate shavings or chocolate sprinkles for garnish on top
Combine first 6 ingredients in a medium saucepan, whisking well. Bring to a boil over medium heat, whisk constantly for 8 minutes. Remove from heat.
Stir in chocolate until smooth. Stir in butter and vanilla. Pour into pastry shell. Cover top of tart with wax paper. Chill at least 3 hours.
Whip cream and confectioner’s sugar until stiff. Spoon on top of tart. Garnish top with chocolate shavings or chocolate sprinkles
***I used cool whip on top instead of making whipped cream
